Japanese company operates a control center composed of 33 flat and curved displays

Shimizu Corporation video wall

With annual sales of approximately US$ 15 billion, Shimizu Corporation — a specialist in architecture and civil engineering — is one of Japan’s five largest construction companies and is ranked among the top twenty worldwide.

The company installed a large video wall to modernize its Smart Control Center (SCC), a multifunctional control room located at its headquarters in central Tokyo. The goal was to closely monitor, using data from multiple sources, the construction process of three new skyscrapers currently under development in the Japanese capital.

The new video wall, configured with 33 LG 55” displays, enables the supervision of multiple elements and supports a wide range of applications — from monitoring construction sites via network video cameras to visualizing architectural plans, floor-by-floor progress, documents, videoconferences, and presentations.

The search for a technically and commercially optimized video wall solution posed a significant challenge. The system needed to support a large number of input and output sources (up to 4K60), while also offering flexible content management and control — without requiring extensive programming of external controllers.

The video wall consists of flat and curved 55” LG displays arranged in an 11×3 configuration, wrapping around the left and right walls of the SCC.

Graphic configurations were carefully adjusted to correctly apply bezel compensation across the different display models (flat and curved). Although the screens offer the same active viewing area, they feature slightly different bezel dimensions and vertical alignments.

As the three new skyscrapers rise over the Tokyo skyline, all building elements are now integrated into a centralized control center, delivering a vast amount of data and information — from live on-site camera feeds to detailed logistical data.
